Centered around the making of his 1992 Dangerous World Tour, and created by Tony Award®-winning Director/Choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage, MJ goes beyond the singular moves and signature sound of the star, offering a rare look at the creative mind and collaborative spirit that catapulted Jackson into legendary status.
The Austin Chronicle on the MJ the Musical National Tour: "Jamal Fields-Green [as MJ] is superb – a human waterfall, flowing through the stage with preternatural grace. There are multiple references to Jackson’s music as a full-body experience. Fields-Green shows how inextricably linked movement is to each note." TheatreVibe.com on MJ the Musical UK: "[it] is a visual feast with probably the best dance on in the current West End. Elijah Johnson who performs as MJ in MJ the Musical on Broadway says that he’s learned so much from choreographers Rich and Tone Talauega who started their careers as dancers for Michael. "I’ve been dancing for a long time, so I think I know how to do the Michael moves. And so much of the feedback has been from the [Talauega] brothers: "that’s pretty good, but you’re doing this wrong,’ or they’ll say, ‘It’s this foot, not that foot.’ But they gave me the space to nail down the moves." The Guardian on the MJ the Musical UK: "It’s Myles Frost, from the original show, who stands out. He has all the moves, and his feet slide along the floor as if it were slippery butter. He is scintillatingly elegant in the remastering of Billie Jean – complete with suitcase, sequined black jacket and sparkling glove – and his Thriller is thrilling, as it needs to be."
